The Atlantic 810 is a fleece/PVC pullover built for cold, wet work – 270gsm polar fleece through the body and hood, 360gsm oil-resistant PVC across the sleeves and front panel. The fleece holds the warmth. The PVC takes the water, the spray and the wear.
The PVC runs right up over the shoulder, so hauling traps, shifting feed or leaning into a wet gate doesn’t soak you through. It pulls on over a base layer and stays on all day.

Is the Atlantic 810 the right layer for the job?
Most wet-weather work sits between two extremes. A full oilskin keeps everything out but is hot and stiff once you are moving. A plain fleece is comfortable but soaks through the moment you reach into anything wet. The 810 is built for the ground in between.
| Atlantic 810 | Full oilskin jacket | Plain fleece | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Waterproofing | Sleeves and front panel | All over | None |
| Warmth | 270gsm fleece body | Depends on lining | Good |
| Freedom of movement | High | Lower | High |
| Best for | Long, active shifts in wet cold | Sustained heavy rain, deck washing | Dry cold only |
If the rain is constant and overhead, reach for a full foul weather jacket. If you are moving all day and the water is coming at your forearms and chest, the 810 is the better layer.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Atlantic 810 fully waterproof?
The sleeves and front panel are 360gsm PVC and fully waterproof. The body, back and hood are polar fleece, which is warm and sheds light rain but is not waterproof. It is built the way it is on purpose: waterproof where the water hits you, breathable everywhere else. For all-over waterproofing in sustained rain, pair it with waterproof bib and brace or overtrousers, or step up to a full oilskin jacket.
Do I need this or a full oilskin jacket?
It depends on where the water comes from. If you are standing in sustained overhead rain or washing down, a full oilskin is the right call. If you are working actively – hauling, feeding, handling – and the water is hitting your forearms, chest and front, the 810 keeps those areas dry while the fleece back lets the heat out. Many crews carry both and choose by the day.
Why fixed cuffs instead of adjustable?
A fixed neoprene cuff seals close to the wrist and stays that way. There is nothing to tighten when the weather turns, nothing to snag on nets, rails or machinery, and nothing that works loose over a season. It is the simpler, more durable choice for repetitive handling work.
Will it keep me warm in winter?
The 270gsm polar fleece is a solid mid-layer on its own and works well over a base layer in cold, damp conditions. The PVC stays flexible down to −25°C / −13°F rather than stiffening, so the garment keeps working when the temperature drops. For freezer or hard-frost work, layer beneath it.
How should it fit?
The 810 is cut as a workwear pullover, so there is room to layer underneath. The back is deliberately longer than the front so it stays put when you bend and can be sat on. Sizes run XS to 4XL. If you are between sizes and plan to wear layers, size up.
Does it suit farm work as well as fishing?
Yes. The same combination that works on deck – waterproof forearms and chest, warm breathable back – suits milking, feeding, stock work and yard jobs, where you are constantly reaching into wet conditions but moving too much for a full oilskin.
How do I clean and care for it?
Rinse the PVC down with fresh water after salt or slurry exposure and hang to dry away from direct heat. Wash the fleece on a cool cycle without fabric softener, which clogs the pile and reduces warmth. Check the cuffs and seams regularly for wear.
What the Atlantic 810 is built for
Commercial fishing and farming are the same problem in different weather: long hours, cold hands, and water arriving from every direction. A full oilskin is too much for most of that work. A plain fleece is not enough.
The 810 splits the difference. You get waterproof PVC exactly where the water hits – forearms, chest, front – and warm, breathable fleece everywhere it doesn’t.
Atlantic 810 features
- 270gsm polar fleece body and hood – Warm, quick to dry and soft against the skin. Light enough to wear all day without the weight of a heavy oilskin.
- 360gsm PVC sleeves and front panel – Oil resistant and fully waterproof where the water actually hits you. The PVC carries over the shoulder for reaching and hauling.
- Fleece-lined sleeves – No cold PVC against the arm. The lining keeps the sleeve comfortable in low temperatures and makes it easy to pull on over a layer.
- Fixed neoprene cuffs – A close, permanent seal at the wrist. Nothing to adjust, nothing to catch on gear, and nothing that loosens off over a season’s use.
- YKK heavy duty plastic zipper – A half-zip that runs easily with gloves on. Plastic, so it won’t rust or seize in salt water.
- Large front utility pouch – A deep kangaroo pocket big enough for bulky gloves, and somewhere to put your hands between jobs.
- Internal chest phone pocket – Keeps a phone dry and out of the way behind the PVC front.
- Adjustable side toggles – Pull the hem in to shut out the wind, or let it out over layers.
- Longer fleece back – Cut long so it stays tucked when you bend, and so you can sit on it.
- Stays flexible to −25°C / −13°F – The PVC stays supple in the cold rather than going stiff and cracking.
